Wonderful moments to share with you from Term 3

As we embark on another exciting term at Think Digital Academy, we have so many wonderful moments to share with you from Term 3! Let’s take a look back at some of the highlights and sneak a peek at what’s in store for the final stretch of the year. From academic milestones to memorable outings and new initiatives, Term 3 was packed with learning, growth and plenty of fun! Let’s take a look back at some of our highlights.

Honouring Madiba: Visit to Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital for MADIBA Day

We celebrated MADIBA Day with a visit to the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital. We had a heartwarming day with the paediatric warriors in the Dialysis, Cardiac and Renal Wards learning about Madiba’s legacy and the importance of compassion, resilience and kindness. It was an unforgettable experience for all and reminded us how small acts of giving can make a big difference.

Exploring history: Apartheid Museum trip with Grades 10 and 11

Our Grade 10 and 11 students took a meaningful journey through history with our experienced History teacher at the Apartheid Museum. The visit was an invaluable part of their curriculum, allowing them to connect with South Africa’s past in a powerful, engaging way. We’re proud of our students for their curiosity, respect and reflections on this important chapter in history.

Making a splash: Field trip to the Two Oceans Aquarium with Grades 4 to 6

The Grade 4, 5 and 6 classes had a whale of a time at the Two Oceans Aquarium in Cape Town! This underwater adventure was both educational and awe-inspiring, offering our young explorers a chance to learn about marine life and the importance of conserving our oceans. The smiles on their faces say it all!

Whooo loves owls? World Owl Day at the Johannesburg Zoo

To mark World Owl Day, our Grades 4, 5 and 6 students ventured to the Johannesburg Zoo, where they got up close with these incredible creatures of the night. Through guided tours and interactive sessions, our students learned about the role of owls in our ecosystem and the importance of protecting our natural wildlife.

Live storytelling: Bringing stories to life

Our Live Storytelling sessions with Teacher Despina Jones, have become a beloved tradition and this term was no different! Bringing stories to life in this interactive format sparked imaginations and encouraged reading. We can’t wait for more characters, plots and adventures in the terms to come.

New initiative: Live check-ins for Grades 10 to 12

In line with our goal to support every student’s journey, we’re excited to introduce Live Check-Ins for Grades 10, 11 and 12, IGCSE and AS Levels. These sessions provide a space for students to connect with their peers and teachers in real-time, ask questions, get guidance and feel part of a supportive community. We’re confident this initiative will be a game-changer for our senior students.

Looking ahead: What’s coming in Term 4

The final term of the year is just around the corner, and there’s plenty to look forward to! Our academic focus will intensify as students prepare for year-end assessments and British International exams. We’ll also continue with our popular Live Storytelling sessions and Live Check-Ins for Grades 10 – 12, IGCSE and AS levels.

In addition to ramping up for exams, we’re launching Live Virtual Breaks! These will be scheduled times for students to take a breather, socialise, play some games or just hang out with friends. We’re all about balancing academics with connection.

We’re celebrating World Space Week with a special guest from FIT who will be taking our Grade 4-6 students on an interactive virtual space exploration to start the term on a high note. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
